A proposed building code was introduced at the City Council on June 27th. The code is now back at the New York City Council and the Department of Buildings to review comments and suggestions on the proposed draft. In the draft are substantial changes to Limited Alteration Applications. In the next draft we may see strengthening of the 51% rule, post hurricane sandy requirements for relocating and protecting building systems such as fire pumps and a few other minor changes. Read the proposed code.
