Chief Inspector Lou Cendagorta and Deputy Chief Inspector Dominick Crescenzo stopped by the March meeting of the NY Fire Sprinkler Contractor's Association to discuss various initiatives being rolled out by the FDNY. The new FIRES program is set to start in July of 2018. This new system will help the FDNY, building owners and contractors manage inspections, violations, and plan reviews of the buildings throughout NYC. Chief Cendagorta also announced some new changes within the fire extinguisher and hood suppression markets. "Smart tags" will now be required to better track assets and inspections on fire extinguishers and kitchen hoods. These initiatives are great steps in the right direction for the FDNY and the fire protection industry in New York City.
